Tab Set Pendant Workshop

May 11 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm CDT

$20

If you would like to learn a “cold connections” method of setting a cabochon and get some practice using a jeweler’s saw, then this workshop is for you. Come join us for some exciting
metalsmithing at the Link Centre in Tupelo on Saturday, May 11th, upstairs in the conference room from 10a.m. until 4p.m. You will learn some essential metalsmithing techniques; as well as
work with a couple of new tools. In this class, you will be working with base metal sheet, copper, brass, or nickel silver. Techniques involved are: designing a base for the stone and tab
placement, sawing out the shape and tabs, texturing, filing, sanding, making a bail, riveting the bail to the base, applying a patina, and setting the stone. There will be some stones available, or bring your own favorite one. The cab does not have to be a “standard “shape, just a flat backed stone. The class is limited to 10 students (NMGMS has 10 saws and bench pins, but you are welcome to bring your own, if you have one), so sign up early. The $20 class fee includes all materials and use of the tools.
